CBD Oil for Hair Loss

About 80 million men and women suffer from serious hair loss in the United States alone. Also known as male pattern baldness, alopecia, and female pattern baldness, this condition affects more people every day. In addition to hereditary hair loss, many other people lose their hair because of treatments like chemotherapy, stress, certain medications, diet, and other lifestyle factors. Is it possible that CBD oil could help?

You may know cannabidiol (CBD) as a means to treat anxiety and pain, however, some research suggests it may be a candidate for hair loss prevention. It is possible that CBD oil is one of the newest—and most effective—ways to cope with hair loss problems.

Benefits of Using CBD Oil for Hair Loss Treatment

For years, balding people have wanted a transformative solution that quickly grows hair. Unfortunately, there’s yet to be a perfect solution that restores a full head of hair overnight without serious side effects. To that end, there is no research to suggest CBD oil directly encourages hair growth.

But, that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways CBD oil can be of benefit to people suffering from hair loss.

Stress and sleep disturbances can be a major contributing factor in hair loss. Scientific research has found correlations between cortisol, the stress hormone, and stress-related hair loss problems. CBD oil has been known to regulate cortisol levels, promoting sleep and managing stress. If CBD is able to help reduce your stress levels, it could also make you less likely to suffer from stress-related hair loss.

Effectiveness of Using CBD Oil for Hair Loss

While marijuana and CBD oil both have stress-reducing effects, CBD oil is preferable because does not produce the mind-altering high associated with the THC found in marijuana.

CBD is also a relatively safe and non-habit-forming supplement, with the World Health Organization even stating, “At present, there are no case reports of abuse or dependence relating to the use of pure CBD.” That means you can feel confident about using CBD oil to treat hair loss and go through your daily routine without fear of dependence or intoxication.

More than just reducing stress and cortisol levels, CBD oil may also be able to improve the health of hair and scalp. CBD oil often contains essential vitamins A, D, and E, and fatty and amino acids that can help repair, protect, and nourish the skin on your scalp.

How to Use CBD Oil for Hair Loss

When it comes to addressing hair loss, there are a few different ways you can use CBD oil. But, before you start using CBD oil, remember to talk to your doctor. While typically safe, CBD oil can interact with some commonly prescribed medications like certain antidepressants and antibiotics.

Our Top Trusted CBD Oil Pick

Joy Organics THC Free Gummies are our top CBD pick because of their potency and delicious flavor. CBD can be taken orally as sublingual CBD oil tinctures or oil drops, CBD oil capsules, or CBD edibles. CBD edibles and capsules have to pass through the digestive system so their effects can be delayed up to an hour, but they make it easy to achieve a consistent dose and can last up to 6 hours. Tinctures and drops work a little faster because they do not have to be digested and the CBD is absorbed through the skin under the tongue. You can typically expect the effects of CBD oil drops or tinctures to appear within 30 minutes and last 2-4 hours.

These delivery formats are the most convenient way to supplement with CBD oil. But when it comes to hair and scalp health, you might want to consider a CBD oil topical. CBD oil is becoming a popular ingredient in beauty products, and there are even some brands that produce CBD hair care lines. Using a CBD oil hair treatment or topical serum can nourish and moisturize the scalp, giving it what it needs to remain healthy.

While CBD flower and CBD vape oils are also available, these products have short-lived effects and may not be the best CBD oil for hair loss.

Using a CBD oil tincture, for example, along with a CBD oil shampoo or hair treatment product may help you tackle hair loss, both inside and out by reducing your stress levels and increasing your scalp health levels.

CBD Oil Dosage for Hair Loss

There is no one dose of CBD oil that is best for hair loss. How a person will respond to CBD oil depends on a number of factors like tolerance, age, and weight.

Unless your doctor has recommended otherwise, it is best to start with the lowest recommended dose on your CBD oil product. Until you know how CBD oil will impact you, it is best to start slowly and build up from there should find you require a higher dose.

At CBD Oil Review, we have analyzed hundreds of CBD oil products and found that generally speaking, 25mg of CBD, taken twice daily, is a good place to start. If after 3 or 4 weeks you do not find the results you were after, increase the dose by 25mg. Continue in this slow and gradual increase until you get the results you’re after.

And remember, when it comes to CBD oil, more isn’t necessarily better. Be mindful of your dosage and observant of the effects you’re feeling.

CBD oil is not a cure for hair loss but it can help slow the process and may even improve the strength and appearance of existing hair. If anything, it may just help reduce the stress you’re feeling over experiencing hair loss!

Best CBD Oil for Hair Loss

Here are some tips to help you find the safest and most effective CBD products for hair loss:

  • Read the ingredients.  Only buy CBD oil products that contain natural ingredients. If the product is full of artificial additives or chemical ingredients, it’s best to take a pass. These can be damaging to your body, scalp, and hair.
  • Look for a Certificate of Analysis.  Most CBD oil products will be tested in an external laboratory and the resulting Certificate of Analysis will enable you to see if there are any heavy metals, pesticides, or chemicals that may have contaminated the final product. It will also allow you to verify the CBD and THC content listed on the label. If you come across a brand that doesn’t provide up-to-date Certificates of Analysis for their products, it’s time to look elsewhere.
  • Check the THC content.  The CBD oil industry is not yet regulated, and sometimes CBD manufacturers can be misleading about their products. In order to pass federal law, CBD oil must be derived from agricultural hemp and have a THC content of 0.3% or lower. In states with access to recreational cannabis, it is possible to buy a CBD oil with a higher THC content. In states with stricter cannabis laws, you will not be able to do so. A brand may say their product has less than 0.3% THC but you should always verify with the Certificate of Analysis.
  • Know the law.  Before you make a purchase, understand the laws in your particular state. Knowing whether or not you can purchase a product that contains THC—or CBD for that matter—will help narrow down your options.

While there is still no cure for hair loss, CBD oil’s stress-relieving properties, coupled with its nutrient-rich makeup, make it a potentially effective option for slowing down the hair loss process.
